The methods of making compost are varied and only limited by the extent of the imagination. However the benefits obtained by having fresh compost to add to your garden’s soil are legendary. Good humus improves soil aeration, enables soil to hold more moisture, builds soil structure less liable to erosion, adds and makes nutrients more readily available to plants, encourages earthworms to play their part and will provide healthier plants. The average compost heap consists of layers of dry material, wet materials, soil, kitchen scraps etc. Each time a small amount of garden soil is added to the heap, Blooming Good Compost Activator should also be added.   Mix Compost Activator at 10 grams of Activator per litre of water and sprinkle over heap.   Water can be increased or reduced according to the moisture content of the heap at the time. If heap is already very wet, add dry powder only.

It is easy to make good compost if the principles are understood. A well-made compost pile will heat up naturally on its own. The reason is because it has a balance of materials according to their carbon and nitrogen make-up. Your pile may also be of good volume, moisture and air circulation. However, not all compost piles are created equal.
Possibly you have too much high-carbon material such as dried leaves, straw, sawdust, etc. in your compost bin, and not enough greens (nitrogen). It is this nitrogen material that is important because it acts as a match to spark the dry browns so that the whole bin can heat up.
Perhaps the weather is too cool. Compost heaps can almost go dormant in cool weather, below 12°C. An activator can be added to spark it to heat up, especially in Spring.
