Application Information and Tips

General

Application rates will always depend on the amount of base fertiliser used and the following recommendations can be amended to fit in with this.   For clients who have not previously used our fertilisers we recommend a program of testing and measuring.   Test your pasture and foliage for brix levels and nutrients, and soil for nutrients, apply fertiliser and test again.   A testing program will always alert you to any problems or deficiencies will often assist in fertiliser cost reductions over a period of time.   However you should find that as your soil gradually becomes a more and more friendly environment for the essential micro-organisms, earthworms etc, production levels and stock health will improve and consequently your fertilising program will change.

The importance of creating the right soil environment cannot be stressed enough.  Keeping soil pH up and calcium/magnesium ratios in balance and a lessening of chemical fertiliser application should be the first step.  For the soil,  applications of more natural products such as composts, reactive phosphate rock, etc, together with applications of our liquid products which feed the soil and boost the plant for increased production will help you achieve production with a clear environmental conscience.

Our fertilisers can generally be used with routine plant and pest sprays, although we recommend that, when using for the first time, always test on a small scale first and consult spray manufacturer’s recommendations as to additives. Mix your spray additive, then add fertiliser.

Pasture Dairy, drystock and hay paddocks

Dairy 15-25 litres per Ha. Apply Spring or Autumn, or split dressing. The normal dilution rate is 1:200 but spraying equipment and the amount of dilute fertiliser dictates that this is not always possible for pasture, so for pasture only we recommend diluting 1:30. Application at this dilution should take place before or after rain or when there is dew on the ground.

Drystock & Hay paddocks
Apply 10-20 litres per Ha. Apply to pasture Spring or Autumn, or split dressing. Ideally apply 10 litres per ha before closing for hay and after bailing when there is about 2-3 cm new growth. Dilution rate as above for dairy pasture.

Seedlings  -  All newly propagated seedlings

Dilute 1:250. Our fertilisers will not harm the most tender seedlings when used as directed.
Soak seedling roots in dilute solution overnight before planting out to lessen transplant shock. Apply dilute solution weekly to growing seedlings.

Home Garden  - Flowers, vegetables, lawns, shrubs, trees, container plants

Dilute 1:200 (5 mls or 1 teaspoon to 1 litre of water). Apply by watering can or spray and wet both soil, and foliage to drip point. Apply every 10-14 days during active growth period and at longer intervals during dormancy. Synerlogic, Vertefert and Verte-N are kindly to the plant and may be used more often if required.

Field CropsCorn, maize, brassicas, cereals, pumpkin, squash, kumara, potatoes & onions
Ideal application is 10-20 litres per ha diluted 1:200 or 1:150.. However its not always possible to apply that much water so dilute 1:100 and apply before, during or after rain.
Apply as a booster whenever doing routine sprays at a lesser application rate, say up to
five litres per ha.

Nurseries  - Container plants, vegetables, flowers, trees & shrubs, vines, tomatoes, herbs, seedlings

Dilute 1:200 (5 mls or 1 teaspoon to 1 litre of water). Apply by sprayer and wet both soil, and foliage to drip point. Apply every 10-14 days during active growth period and at longer intervals during dormancy. Synerlogic, Vertefert and Verte-N are kindly to the plant and may be used more often if required. A very good tonic for use when plants are suffering stress, and for use pre-stress, i.e. before sale and transport.

Kiwifruit

15-20 litres per Ha. Prior to flowering 2 sprays. After fruit set 2 sprays. Prior to ripening 1 spray. After harvest 1 spray. Dilute 1:200 or 1:150.

OrchardsBerryfruit Pipfruit, stonefruit, citrus, berryfruit, avocados

Apply diluted 1:200 or 1:150 at first spring flush and continue at 3 to 4 week intervals.

Greenhouse Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, flowers, peppers

Use as a foliar spray or watered around plant roots at 10-14 day intervals. Use with routine sprays for efficiency. As a booster can be added into fertigation systems.

Hydroponics

An excellent foliar feed diluted 1:200. Use with routine sprays for efficiency.

Application information & tips

Dilution: Ideal dilution rate is 1:200. This can be reduced if applied before, during or after rain.
Mixing: Always add water to tank first, then add premixed fertiliser.
Agitation: Concentrate may settle on standing and drum or bottle should be well agitated prior to use by shaking, rolling or stirring, whichever is appropriate.
Filters: Maximum particle size is 197 microns (.197mm). Very fine filters may need to be removed from your spraying equipment or, alternatively pre-mix your fertiliser with water and strain prior to adding to final amount of water.
Application Timing: In line with good spraying practice we do not recommend using our fertilisers in the heat of the day in summer. Early morning or late evening is preferable.
Storage: Product should not be stored after dilution, due to its organic base. In its concentrated form it may be stored indefinitely in a cool dark place as long as the lid is on tight and it isn’t contaminated by water or dirt.
Non-toxic: Our productsare not harmful to beneficial insects, birds, bees or livestock when used as directed.
Withholding time: Although our fertilisers are quickly absorbed through the foliage, commonsense dictates that a number of days should be left before putting stock in the paddock or consumption by humans,  to obtain the maximum nutrient benefit.
Environment: Our liquid fertiliser technology means our fertilisers are efficient to make, efficient to transport and use, efficient in their action don’t leach into our waterways.
Aerial application: May be diluted 1:1.
Application methods: May be applied by watering can, hand sprayer, backpack, commercial sprayer, fertigation or air.
